Vibrant Autumn Colors at Kumogata Pond
A pond named "Kumogata pond" which has a crane fountain.
This pond is located at Hibiya park.
In late autumn, those Japanese maple and ginkgo trees decorate the pond with vivid colors.

Kiyomizu kannondo hall, Ueno park.
Some leaves of that Japanese maple have turned red, and some leaves are still green.

Red Leaves and Shinobazu Bentendo
Shinobazu bentendo hall, Ueno park.
This temple hall is located on middle of the Shinobazu pond.
In cherry blossom season, it is very crowded around the hall, but you can take a relaxing walk there in autumn.

Cherry Tree with Autumn Leaves

Those red leaves will almost have fallen, when leaves of ginkgo trees in the park turn golden yellow.

Kiku-ningyo(Chrysanthemums Figure) at Yushima Tenjin Shrine
This is an exhibit of "Bunkyo Chrysanthemum Festival" at Yushima Tenjin Shrine.
Kiku-ningyo are life-size figures which wear clothes made of colorful chrysanthemums.

Yushima Tenjin and Chrysanthemums
Yushima Tenjin Shrine is a Shinto shrine located on Yushima district.
The Bunkyo Chrysanthemum Festival, one of the five big flower festival in Bunkyo ward, is held at the shrine annually.

Kuroda Memorial Hall
This hall is located across a road from Tokyo National Museum, Ueno park.
Many works of Kuroda Seiki are exhibited in the hall.
Kuroda Seiki(1866-1924) is known as "father of modern western-stayl painting in Japan".
The hall was built in 1928.

Kuromon Gate
Kuromon literally means "black gate".
This gate is an outdoor exhibition of Tokyo National Museum, Ueno park.
Originally, it was the main gate of the Tottori domain lord Ikeda family's residence in Edo city, and It was located on Marunouchi Daimyo-koji (present-time Marunouchi 3).

Landing Place for Shogun at Hamarikyu Gardens
Hamarikyu Gardens is located at the mouth of the Sumida river.
The garden was a family garden of Tokugawa Shogun.
A landing place for Shogun visiting the garden by boat still remains.

Sluice Gate at Hamarikyu Gardens
There is a large seawater pond at Hamarikyu Gardens.
This sluice connects Tokyo bay and the pond.

Flower Garden at Hamarikyu Gardens
This flower garden is located at the side of the inner moat which I referred on my previous post, "Inner Moat at Hamarikyu Gardens".

Inner Moat at Hamarikyu Gardens
In Edo period, this moat worked as a wharf for boats which brought paddy rice there.
There used to be paddy rice granaries in the east side of this moat.
They used to store rice in the granaries for famine.

Hamarikyu gardens is a Tokyo metropolitan cultural heritage garden created in the Edo period.
This garden is located next to Shiodome which is a modern business district.

Incoming Tide Pond at Hamarikyu Gardens
Hamarikyu is the largest of the nine Tokyo metropolitan cultural heritage gardens.
This garden has a large pond called Shio-iri-no-ike ("Tide coming pond").
The pond draws in seawater from Tokyo bay to change its appearance by change of the tide.
